Non-optimized BIM libraries

The client's ladder and cable duct systems had complicated formulas, which negatively affected both the efficiency of the libraries themselves and the difficulties in maintaining them.

Costly and slow library upgrades

In case of changes, the manufacturer was forced to ask an external provider of the BiMowa platform to produce new libraries, which generated additional operating costs.

Manual update of BIM files

Changes to the PIM system required manual updating of BIM files. OBO wanted each update to be automatically reflected in their BIM files.

Complicated product systems

Most BIM OBO libraries were created for entire systems, which came in many types. It was impossible to create and maintain all possible combinations of systems.

Problematic publication on external channels

OBO did not have the ability to publish BIM families on external channels. The company needed a solution that would allow multiple channels, internal and external, to be updated simultaneously.

No sales data

In order to support sales, the customer wanted to receive information about who uses his BIM families. Such data would be helpful tools for generating sales leads.

Missing functionality in Revit

Within the framework of cable ladders, OBO wanted to change one parameter of the objects (route width) also to change other parameters of the cable route, e.g. description, ETIM class, etc. — because each route size is a different product.

Manually create a bill of materials

Sellers manually created bills of materials (BOMs), which was time consuming and prone to errors. Each BOM had to be adapted to the company format, contain branding and specific data, which further lengthened the bidding process.

We have linked BIMStreamer to the manufacturer's PIM to automatically propagate any changes to BIM libraries. We have also replaced static formulas with dynamically generated LookupTable to make data management easier.

Obo gained access to the administration panel allowing its employees to independently add new libraries, automatically regenerate them in case of changes in PIM.

The administration panel provides download statistics to the client, and analytical data about users downloading files is sent to his CRM system.

We have implemented BIM channels, which are equipped with convenient filtering mechanisms that allow designers to quickly search for products of interest to them.

The solution we have implemented generates files on the server side, so they can be easily sent to external channels such as BIM marketplace.

We have enriched the Revit plugin in a workflow that listens for changes in route geometry values and automatically replaces the parameters in Revit model according to the configuration in the Backoffice.

We have created a configurator that automatically generates OBO systems, eliminating the need to store multiple files with different variants. The solution adapts the base file to the specifics of a given project.

Customer-tailored BIM plugin makes it possible to automatically generate BOMs. The plugin downloads the data, formats it as required and exports it in the appropriate layout.
